"Love Reign O'er Me"

Only love - Can make it rain
The way the beach is kissed by the sea

Only love - Can make it rain
Like the sweat of lovers' laying in the fields

Love, reign o'er me
Love, reign o'er me, rain on me, rain on me

Only love - Can bring the rain
That makes you yearn to the sky

Only love - Can bring the rain
That falls like tears from on high

Love, reign o'er me, rain on me, rain on me

On the dry and dusty road - The nights we spend apart alone
I need to get back home to cool, cool rain
I can't sleep and I lay and I think - The night is hot and black as ink
Oh God, I need a drink of cool, cool rain

Love, reign o'er me, rain on me, on me, on me, oh
Love, reign o'er me, whoa, on me

-Pete Townsend, The Who

Love Reign O'er Me was captured at Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon is located near Page on Navajo Nation land, just outside Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and close to AZ 98 a few miles east of town (at milepost 299). Antelope is the most visited slot canyon in the Southwest, partly because it is easily accessible and by far the most publicized, and also since it is extremely beautiful, with just the right combination of depth, width, length, rock color and ambient light; many other slot canyons are deeper, narrower or longer, and some have rock that is even more colorful and sculptured, but here conditions are ideal.

Love Reign O'er Me is one of my favorite songs by The Who.  You can feel the passion and urgency in the vocals by Roger Daltrey.

Even though the song was written by Pete Townsend to reflect being cleansed by the rain to be ready for love, I saw this beautiful light ray at Antelope Canyon and thought of it showering over what appears to be two rock formations embraced in a kiss.  May Love Reign O'er all of you!
